Fobis Technologies Inc. was incorporated in June of 1998. Our mission then was to build really cool gadgets that are simple to use. Our mantra here is "Building Gadgets for Real Life". Our first product called the weemote® allowed parents the ability to provide a simple remote control for their young children. More importantly, the weemote® allowed parents to actually program only the channels they wanted their children to watch. Even though the weemote® provides a simple interface for kids, it provides powerful programming capabilties so that parents can fully customize it to meet their specific needs.
Since March of 2000, we have shipped over 350,000 units and are now focusing our developments on the boomer market with an easy to use weemote®. We recently announced our third major product release in August 2011. Ten years of development experience has resulted in a totally resdesigned weemote®, aptly called “weemote® X”. This latest version offers the most compatibility and program options ever assembled. Look for our new web site too. Learn more at www.weemote.com.
As a small business developing, marketing and selling products, we relied on Apple Computers in our office to get the job done. We also required other technologies such as cloud and telephony solutions to support our needs with small offices and partners located in Southern and Northern California as well as South Korea. In the early days, finding solutions that would integrate well into the Apple environment was difficult but we managed to find ways to make it work. Some of those solutions required integration with Windows. This collective experience made us not only gain some great technical expertise but also a practical understanding of what may or may not work in a real world application.
In early 2002, we also worked at the Apple Store as the retail concept was launched. Over a 3 year period, we worked extensively in customer support and experienced the beginning revolution and widespread adoption of the OSX operating system and later the introduction of the Intel processor which completely changed the dynamics of Windows integration.
In 2005, we decided to “setup” shop as an independent Apple Consultant, and became members of the Apple Consultants Network. Over a 6 year period, we have serviced well over 300 clients in a very wide range of work from setting up basic systems in home environments to servers in small businesses running complex applications software and internet based applications. Experience matters as over that time, we have truly gained an understanding of how to work with clients to find the best technology solution that really works for them.
In the end, it really does not matter whether we work with a home user or small business with twenty employees. While the technical understanding to support those environments are vastly different, what to implement and keeping it simple and usable for the specific needs of each client does not.
